A voyage of 26 stolen royal treasures from the Kingdom of Dahomey, on display in Paris, is now being returned to Benin. Diop artistically expresses the demands of the new generation. World premiere in 2024. February 18 at the 74th Berlinale Film Festival. In reality, everything is not as good as people imagine. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s not really a movie I’m very interested in, so I won’t be able to be that objective. The fact of the matter is that it’s just plain work, routine, nothing new to offer, which is what I’d expect from what others have said about Dahomey. Anyway, yeah, I just don’t have much else to say other than it doesn’t change anything about how I see anything. It’s good, but not good at the same time, but maybe next time.
