Struggling with his dual identity, failed comedian Arthur Fleck meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital. Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson and director-writer Todd Phillips talk about what scared them the most about making a musical sequel. . The subtitle of the film is "Folie a Deux" means “The Folly of Two”; in French.

This initially led to speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the film, which was confirmed shortly after. The name Folie a Deux comes from the 19th century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to refer to two or more people who share the same insanity or delusion. The foreman of the jury speaks of “the people of New York”; Instead of Gotham City.

This is because New York State is the plaintiff in the criminal case, and this version of Gotham City is apparently located in New York State (most versions have Gotham in New Jersey). I really enjoyed the first Joker movie directed by Todd Phillips but I have to say what the hell were they thinking when they decided to go with a sequel. Unlike the first film, this one has virtually no story, but rather a series of weird misguided vignettes thrown together with musical numbers that got old very quickly and made the running time unnecessarily longer for its actual entertainment. Joaquin Phoenix gives a decent performance, but it’s nowhere near as good as the first film. I was still waiting, waiting, thinking this must be building up to some big moment that unfortunately never comes, and instead I was left with nothing but disappointment as the movie ends on a worse note than it started.
